"A Beautiful Lie" is the fourth single by the band 30 Seconds to Mars and the second track of the album A Beautiful Lie. At the end of their previous video "From Yesterday", the opening part of 'A Beautiful Lie' is played, leading to much suspicion that this will be their next single.
On 2nd May 2007, this was officially announced on the 30 Seconds to Mars official website, but not before checking the preference of the "Mars Army". The band could not decide between "A Beautiful Lie" and "The Fantasy"; both songs contain a strong message which the band wished to deliver.
According to EMI Japan, the video for "A Beautiful Lie" was going to be shot in both Alaska and the North Pole. Jared Leto then moved the video to Greenland and the band has started shooting since August 29, 2007. Jared has said that the video will be environmentally safe and for every download of the video, it will go to an environmental charity. The video's release date is to be around late October 2007-early November 2007.
Jared Leto has said on an over-the-phone interview with 99X in Atlanta that the video will be like a short film and a documentary
