This is my chance, I want it now!
As IDM's editor, I'm faced with making all kinds of heady decisions. This is not always an easy task. One thing remains; we are committed to our readership (you, the fans) and work hard to bring you what you want.
We have had some interesting challenges over the past few months. Challenge means growth, however, and sometimes it requires breaking the mold entirely.
After our band poll www.websitetoolbox.com/cgi/view/poll.cgi?username=indemand&showPage=1&id=8703, you guys made it clear that you wanted 30 SECONDS TO MARS as our lead story. So we got right on that. We also got a great 30 interview to share with you about their amazing fans, THE ECHELON.
But as many of you already know, last week in El Paso Texas, 30 SECONDS TO MARS announced a sudden lineup change that took the fans by complete surprise. Bassist MATT WACHTER resigned his position in order to spend more time with his family. This decision was a bittersweet one that also had a major impact on the story we were to run. Writer and Echelon member Christina Avina had contributed a wonderful interview with WACHTER...but what to do now?
Faced with the dilemma of how to bring our 30 SECONDS TO MARS feature, and this wonderful interview to the fans, it was clear to me that scrapping the interview was just not an option. THE ECHELON embraces MATT passionately, and I simply could not ignore the love he expressed for them in the interview…especially now that THE ECHELON is missing him so much.
After a sincere talk with 30's publicist, and much thought, I decided we would run our 30 SECONDS TO MARS feature along with the interview in a pre-launch edition. We will postpone our official launch until after I return from 2 weeks reporting at TASTE OF CHAOS.
So on Monday March 05, be sure to visit our website IN DEMAND MAGAZINE: www.indemandmagazine.com/ and dose yourself silly with MATT WACHTER and 30 Seconds To Mars!
